Key points
- Dapoxetine is intended for adults aged 18 to 64.
- Its effect usually starts within 1 to 3 hours and lasts around 3 to 6 hours.
- The tablets are film-coated.
What dapoxetine is used for
Dapoxetine is used to treat premature ejaculation. Some products also contain a second active ingredient for erectile dysfunction. One tablet can then address ejaculatory control together with erectile response. The aim is to improve control over ejaculation. Combination products are used when both conditions are present.
How it works
Dapoxetine raises serotonin activity at the synaptic cleft. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that carries signals between nerve cells. This modulation of the ejaculatory reflex delays the time to ejaculation. The tablet is made for quick absorption and a brief period of activity.
Dapoxetine alone comes as Priligy and Poxet, both tablets in 30, 60 or 90 mg strengths. These single-ingredient tablets are listed for premature ejaculation.
Combination tablets include sildenafil with dapoxetine: Cenforce D, Super Kamagra, Super P-Force and Viagra with Dapoxetine, each 100/60 mg. Tadalafil with dapoxetine is supplied as Tadapox 20/60 mg, and vardenafil with dapoxetine as Levitra with Dapoxetine 20/60 mg. Avanafil with dapoxetine is Super Avana 100/60 mg. All are tablets.

Safety and interactions
Check for known allergy to SSRI medicines before use. A history of heart failure, conduction defects and concurrent use of MAO inhibitors are contraindications. Orthostatic hypotension requires monitoring, and caution applies with a history of seizures, fainting or mood disorders.
Nausea, headache and dizziness are minor effects. Insomnia, fatigue and dry mouth are moderate effects. These often lessen as the medicine wears off. Syncope and anxiety are serious effects that need immediate medical attention.
Dapoxetine interacts with tramadol, St John’s wort, SSRIs and other medicines that affect serotonin. It is not indicated for use in women; breastfeeding suitability should be confirmed with a qualified clinician or pharmacist.
